Level 1 (A1 – Beginner)

Introduction

Level 1 is designed for students who are just beginning their English language journey. At this stage, learners develop the ability to understand and use everyday expressions, simple sentences, and basic vocabulary needed to interact in daily life. The focus is on building confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing through real-life contexts and practical activities.

Key Features of Level 1:

• Focus on basic communication skills for everyday situations.
• Development of core vocabulary (around 500–800 words).
• Introduction to essential grammar structures:
• Present Simple (I live, I like)
• To be (am, is, are)
• Possessives (my, your, his/her)
• Basic question forms (What? Where? How much?)
• Future with will and going to (in simple contexts).
• Interactive speaking activities to encourage confidence.
• Role-plays, dialogues, and listening practice based on real-life scenarios.

Objectives:

• Speaking & Listening

1. Use basic greetings, introductions, and polite expressions in everyday situations.
2. Ask and answer simple questions about personal information (name, age, nationality, family, hobbies).
3. Participate in short, guided conversations about daily routines, food, shopping, travel, and health.
4. Understand and respond to simple classroom instructions, questions, and directions.
5. Express likes, dislikes, and preferences in simple sentences.

• Reading

1. Recognize common signs, notices, and everyday words (e.g., at shops, restaurants, transportation).
2. Read and understand short, simple texts such as personal messages, invitations, or schedules.
3. Identify basic information in forms, posters, menus, and timetables.

• Writing

1. Write simple sentences and phrases about themselves, family, and daily activities.
2. Complete basic forms with personal details (e.g., name, address, nationality).
3. Write short notes, postcards, or messages using familiar vocabulary.

• Grammar & Vocabulary

1. Use essential grammar structures:

• Verb to be (am, is, are)
• Simple Present Tense (I go, she works)
• Possessive adjectives (my, your, his, her)
• Plurals and articles (a, an, the)
• Simple question forms (What? Where? How?)

2. Use a core vocabulary of 500–800 words related to family, food, shopping, travel, hobbies, and health.

By the end of Level 1, learners will be able to:

• Introduce themselves and others.
• Ask and answer simple questions about personal details (name, age, nationality, family, hobbies).
• Use familiar expressions in shopping, eating out, travel, and health situations.
• Talk about daily routines, preferences, and future intentions in simple terms.
